The White Mountains Golf Scene Near RiverWalk

The snow is gone and you know what that means, the greens are uncovered and it’s time for a new season of golf in the White Mountains! Luckily, there are an incredible amount of top options to choose from right around RiverWalk. Let us help you explore them. 

Owl’s Nest Golf Club

This 18-hole, Nicklaus-Designed course is a favorite of both casual and seasoned players. 

If you’re looking to get started with golf or you’re simply interested in improving your game, consider a lesson! They offer both 30 and 60-minute private and group lessons with their Head Golf Professional, Joe Clark. 

Whether you’re a member or not, you can also join a 15-week Owl’s Nest summer league! It’s a fantastic option for locals and extended area stay visitors as the cost includes greens and cart fees, prizes, and even a cookout!

You can also host a tournament of your very own for up to 144 golfers.

Insider Info! If you’ve played golf in Ashland, New Hampshire before and are wondering where the White Mountain Country Club went, don’t worry – it’s still there! You can play 18 holes now at the Owl's Nest Vineyard Course. New name, same great course!

The Jack Golf Course

If you’d like to stay in our backyard, you can’t go wrong with a round at The Jack!

While it was known for many years as The Jack O Lantern Golf Course, this nearby spot is now under new ownership and is simply called, The Jack. The Jack is still working on its web presence, but you can find a lot of information about it through its Facebook page

As The Jack is just ramping up, they have said that if you commit to membership this year, your rate won’t change for the next!

The rates are as follows:

  • Under 12: Free.
  • 13-20: $350.00
  • 21-60:$550.00
  • 60-84: $500.00
  • 85+: free
  • Season pass for carts: $500 per person

As a member of The Jack you will get both clubhouse and restaurant discounts and member tournaments. And Club Champions will win a parking spot (closest to the bar!) and a membership for the following year. It’s an amazing deal!

The Maplewood Championship Golf Course

This semi-private club course which was designed by Donald Ross dates back to 1914. In addition to golf itself, they offer players a pro shop and lounge as well as both a chipping and putting green. 

You can become a member if you’re interested in benefits like clubhouse access and zero greens fees, but otherwise, you’ll have to be a member’s guest. 

As for rates, they run anywhere from $40-85 per round, depending on whether you walk or use a cart and if you choose a weekday or weekend. Tee times can be booked here

Fun Fact! This course includes a par six that spans 650+ miles, so it’s a real challenge for tenacious golfers.

Bethlehem Country Club

For a public, recreational game of golf, choose Bethlehem Country Club! There are 12 and 18-hole options. 

Memberships are available, but not needed to play. The greens fees are available here

A day of golf isn’t complete without a visit to El Mirador and Goofy Goats, which serve classic American cuisine and has a full-service bar alongside house made ice cream (some of it is even goat milk-based or gluten-free).

The Omni Mount Washington Resort Golf Course

Another outstanding course designed by Donald Ross is The Omni Mount Washington Resort Golf Course! Established in 1915, this Par-72 course is the perfect spot to golf with a view of The Presidential Range.

If you’re looking for a notable course, know that this one has earned the title of Best Course You Can Play in New Hampshire since 2009 from Golfweek.

Rates are accessible here and information and costs for private, semi-private, and group lessons as well as clinics are available here.

Location: 310 Mount Washington Hotel Road, Bretton Woods, New Hampshire  

Distance from RiverWalk: ~34 minutes or 29 miles

Waumbek Golf Club

While this is technically the oldest golf course in New Hampshire (1895!), Waumbek Golf Club is actually about to enter a new era. 

In 2024 it will relaunch with some fresh hole layouts and carts as well as a brand-new clubhouse. It won’t be ready until the summer of 2024, but you can get updates on the renovation and opening plans via Instagram and Facebook

Location: 28 Waumbek Road, Jefferson, New Hampshire

Distance from RiverWalk: ~40 minutes or 35 miles

Waterville Valley Golf Course

This nine-hole course with four par fours and five par threes is billed as being social and active. 

Members and non-members are welcome, but membership is encouraged as non-members need to call 48 hours in advance for availability and rates are slightly higher. 

As for rentals, gas carts, pull carts, and clubs are available for your convenience.

Hungry before or after your game? The Waterville Valley Clubhouse has seasonal breakfast and lunch as well as occasional treats like a raw bar and sunset cocktails.

Mountain View Grand Golf Course

The last course we’re profiling today dates back to 1900 and was voted Top 25 Golf Courses in New England by Links magazine. The course was architected by Ralph Barton and has even hosted Warren G. Harding and Dwight D. Eisenhower

This beautiful course offers memberships for singles, couples, and juniors, as well as daily rates ranging from $30-60 depending on the day of the week and if you choose to play nine or 18 holes. 

Location: 101 Mountain View Rd, Whitefield, New Hampshire

Distance from RiverWalk: ~41 minutes or 31 miles
