Let’s be honest…this summer has been…wetter than usual. Together we’ve been through some extreme heat, some intense flooding, and sometimes, even a mix of both. It’s giving off a tropics vibe lately, and while that can be a problem for daily life, it certainly hasn’t dampened our spirits at RiverWalk Resort!
Why? Because there are many excellent options here at RiverWalk and more just a short walk away. Let’s get into some of our favorites in this rainy day itinerary.
If you don’t want to leave RiverWalk…choose to dine at The Toast at La Vista. Our on-site restaurant is open from 8:00-11:30am every day except for Wednesdays and Thursdays and is known for their innovative, tasty takes on classic, well-loved breakfast favorites like Bananas Foster French Toast, Lobster Benedict, and more. You can learn more here.
If you’re craving some carbs…head over to the nearby White Mountain Bagel Co which is open seven days a week. Their reviews are as delicious as their bagels. Grab one with coffee and take it with you to your next stop.
If you want the diner breakfast experience…you can stop into either Arnold’s Wayside Diner, which serves breakfast all day long, or Flapjack's Pancake House who’s Facebook special posts of Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, Strawberry/Raspberry Flapjacks, and Chocolate Chip Cannoli Stuffed French Toast will make you want to lick the screen…
If you want a unique view…take a ride in a gondola up to the Summit Cafe situated at Loon’s peak. There’s indoor seating, so you can enjoy the incredible views of Lincoln and Mt. Moosilauke alongside your breakfast even if it is a bit rainy.
If you want to work off your breakfast…access the Resort gym using your key card. We offer everything you need to succeed in your workout. High-quality cardio equipment, dumbbells and kettlebells, and a punching bag are just a few choices you can take advantage of.
If you want some “you” time at RiverWalk…Solstice North Day Spa has everything you need to unwind. With signature soaks, CBD infused services, massages, and more, you’ll be floating back to your room.
If you want an on-site taste…you have two tasting room options – Seven Birches Winery (inside RiverWalk) and Rhythm Studio (across the parking lot from RiverWalk). For just $20 you can have a tasting with five wine samples and at Rhythm Studio your can try a flight with four two once drinks for $15 or six-pour paddle for $20. In both cases, reservations aren’t needed, so just drop in and enjoy.
If you like games…spend some time in RiverWalk’s Game Room (it’s open every day). We have foosball, a pool table, air hockey, prize games, arcade games, and more to offer both children and adults.
If you want to ride the rails…The Hobo Railroad is open from 1:00-3:00pm Wednesday-Sunday and their 80-minute round-trip train rides are offered rain or shine. This is a time-honored tradition that just celebrated 35 years in service!
If you want more RiverWalk… Enjoy our heated indoor/outdoor upper deck pool and our Lagoon Pool (open and heated through Columbus Day) or relax in one of our two hot tubs while enjoying gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains.
If you’re feeling theatrical…book tickets to a play or at Jean’s Playhouse. You can catch their current production, “On Golden Pond,” from August 24-September 2, 2023 for between $32-$37 per person depending on age. And after that you can visit for a comedy show, a concert, or even a spooky adventure.
If you’re feeling hungry…there are lots of choices. While we will never stop singing the praises of our on-location La Vista Italian Cuisine Restaurant, there are other nearby spots including: Gordi’s Fish & Steak House, The Common Man, The Gypsy Cafe, Black Mtn. Burger Co. & More all offering different takes on dinner.
If you’re not a planner, but you wish you were…RiverWalk has an on-site Adventure Concierge that can help you plan out local activities and will even make restaurant and attraction bookings for you. There’s a form to contact them here.
What wet weather fun will you be having at your next visit? No matter what you choose, we know it will be extraordinary!
